Golden Milk Smoothie Bowl

One of my favorite weekend activities is hitting up local cafes and trying new smoothies. Recently, I was out and saw a golden milk smoothie on a cafe’s menu—of course I had to try it. The vibrant golden-colored smoothie was so creamy, sweet, and perfectly spiced. If you’re looking to step up your smoothie game, give this one a try—you will not be disappointed.

So lets talk about that golden color. That comes from turmeric root which, when ground, is a vibrant, yellow color. It is that ingredient that makes the trendy “golden milk” golden and also the ingredient that makes curry the bright yellow we recognize it for. Turmeric has been widely recognized for having anti-inflammatory effects and has claims that it prevents disease. I love turmeric for its earthy flavor and lovely color. If you haven’t took the “golden milk” plunge yet, now is the time!
Also I am excited to be sharing one of my new favorite granola brands with you all! The Perfect Granola is based in Rochester, NY. They use simple ingredients, are gluten free and dairy free. On top of all that they have multiple initiatives going to fight poverty—such as giving profits back to the community and hiring students part time in need of extra income. Go check them out! The Perfect Granola has their products in Wegmans and definitely deserve your support—also their products are amazing.
This recipe is super simple and I know you all will love it. As always, if you try my golden milk smoothie bowl, be sure to take a picture and tag me in it on Instagram @thelocalsprout. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

  1. Place all ingredients in blender*. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, scraping the edges halfway through to ensure evenness.
  2. Pour into cup, sprinkle with toppings if desired and serve immediately.
*If you plan on making smoothies frequently, I definitely suggest investing in a good blender. (I went through 3 cheep blenders over the course of one semester in college. no joke). I love my Vitamix - probably one of the best Christmas gifts I’ve ever received. It literally holds up anything. You can buy them certified refurbished which helps cut the cost and still gives you a great product. I love this one.
